We were only in Finland for around 5 hours, but there wasn’t a whole lot to see anyway. We drove out to the countryside and visited an organic farm for a very good lunch and tour. We then returned to Helsinki and stopped in Senate Square and Temppeliaukio Church.

Bosgard was the name of the little farmhouse where we visited and ate lunch.

The animals were all free-range, roaming the grounds wherever they wished. We enjoyed the hike and a little swing.

Senate Square and its surroundings make up the oldest part of central Helsinki. Landmarks and famous buildings surrounding the square are the Helsinki Cathedral (above Dusty), the Government Palace, main building of the University of Helsinki, and Sederholm House, the oldest building of central Helsinki dating from 1757. Madeline and Dusty didn’t know this history, and they also didn’t know I was taking a photo of them taking a selfie.

Temppeliaukio Church is a Lutheran church built directly into solid rock, so it’s also known as the Rock Church. The interior was excavated and built directly out of solid rock and is bathed in natural light which enters through the skylight surrounding the center copper dome. The church is used frequently as a concert venue due to its excellent acoustics. The acoustic quality is created by the rough, virtually unworked rock surfaces.
