When we put our house up for sale in Illinois, we never expected that we would have to close on the house (and therefore move) during a vacation. Because of that, we canceled a trip to Northern California. It was the first time that we had ever canceled an entire vacation and so after we got settled in in our house in Florida, we decided to just get away for a long weekend. The advantage of living in Orlando is that we have three port cities within 4 hours of us. I checked Expedia for good deals a couple of weeks before we left and we settled on Royal Caribbean. It was our first time with them and we were on the Enchantment of the Seas. Although it was only a 3-night cruise, the weather was perfect and we enjoyed ourselves.

We left out of Cape Canaveral on the Enchantment of the Seas

10/30/15—11/02/15

It was a beautiful weekend and so naturally we spent a lot of time by the pool. The bellyflop contest was interesting, as were some of the swimsuits there.

It was also Halloween, so there was a pretty cool party that night. People went all out with costumes, including the guy from Scream, a couple of Waldos, Batgirl, and the Pope with Austin Powers.

Our first stop was Nassau. We have been there a number of times, so we didn’t do much other than walk the streets and buy some alcohol. It was an amazingly calm day on the waters, though, as you can tell with the picture above and to the left. The sea was like glass. We were in port from about noon until midnight, which was different.

CocoCay is Royal’s private island in the Bahamas. It was beautiful and had lots of soft sand, lounge chairs, hammocks, and some good drinks. We made home under some palm trees and enjoyed lounging in the water and checking out our neighbors. A ray even swam up to us by our chairs.

They also had a water park that consisted of a huge slide on land (which Madeline is enjoying above and to the right) as well as a bunch of floating things out in the sea. It was a workout getting up on top of the floating devices, but a lot of fun, too. The water park put us closer to Great Stirrup Cay, which is NCL’s private island.
