Since we were back in Europe and hitting so many new countries, I wanted to hit another one after the cruise. I asked Mäggi if we should go to the Czech Republic or Switzerland and she said Prague would be so much easier, quicker, and cheaper. I had heard so many wonderful things about Prague that I had no problem with Mäggi’s suggestion. We took the train from Regensburg and it was about 4-hours long. Unfortunately Mäggi was sick, but she was a trooper and went wherever we wanted to go. We saw Old Town and even took a tour in an old car on the second day, before heading back on the train. We had one last meal with the family, which was so nice. The Müller family is always so gracious.

We got up early and Günther took us to the train station in Regensburg. We stocked up on some breakfast for our trip and ended up in a private cabin for the three of us. The trip was long, but the countryside was fascinating. Finally, we arrived in Prague a little after noon.

We walked to the Marriott, passing by some beautifully painted temples along the way. After checking in to the hotel and having a nice lunch, we ventured off towards Old Town Square, passing under Powder Tower first. The churches and other buildings in the square were gorgeous.

We continued to Old Bridge Tower, built in the late 14th century. We went up the tower and got a great view of Charles Bridge, a famous pedestrian bridge across the Vltava River. The tower offered wonderful views in all directions, but we especially liked the view of the cathedral at Prague Castle.

We crossed the bridge and entered Prague Castle. We got to go inside St. Vitus Cathedral just before it closed to the public. The church began construction in 1344.

We had dinner near the Old Town Square, enjoying people watching. Later, we checked out other sections of town, and Mäggi and I even found out how passionate we were in the Sex Machines Museum.

It was so hot out that we didn’t feel like walking through town all day, especially since Mäggi was pregnant and ill. We did a tour in an old car instead, learning more about all the sights in Prague. We went back to the Castle and also the Jewish section of town to see one of the oldest synagogues in Europe.

We went back to the train station and headed back to Regensburg, where Mäggi’s family met us all for dinner. Along with Günther and Chris, we saw Mäggi’s cousin Katarina and her sister Miriam. It was a great end to a great trip.
