The Norwegian Sky was first launched in 1996 and acquired by NCL in 1999. It has a length of 848 feet, a width of 108 feet, and has 13 decks. The ship carries a little over 2000 passengers and has a crew of 917.

We were on Deck 10 Midship and had a nice verandah from both rooms. The pool deck was directly above us, and most of the other amenities were four or five floors down. As always, we got a lot of exercise walking up and down the stairs.

On the Norwegian Sky

Like I stated on the main page, we flew into Orlando even though the cruise took off out of Miami. One reason was it was a cheaper airfare, but the other is that we wanted to tack on a couple of days at Disney World after the cruise. We had plenty of time to kill during the drive to Miami, so I went through the central part of the state and to Lake Okeechobee. We stayed at a Marriott in downtown Miami, where we saw the ship from our window the next morning.

Every day on the cruise was sunny and in the 80's, so people spent a lot of time up by the pool, which was only one deck above us. Before we got too much sun ourselves, we spent a fair amount of time on deck watching the parties and the belly-flop contest, listening to the reggae music, and just people watching. The nightly entertainment was also very good, whether it was a comedian/magician or singers/dancers.

We left the hotel, turned in our car, and went to the ship, where we boarded quickly. We could not get to our room for a while, so we ate a meal and explored before we were let into our separate cabins. We then explored some more and ate another meal (it IS a cruise, you know!), watched a show, and then the sun set as we left Miami.

How is it that I always seem to get picked to be a part of a magician's or comedian's show?

And so came the end to our short cruise... until we sail again!
