We left O’Hare late on a Friday morning, connecting in LAX and eventually landing in Kahului, Maui late at night. We had about 10 hours of flying, 2 hours of waiting in airports, and basically were exhausted. We checked into the Westin Maui at Kā’anapali Beach, a beautiful resort right on the beach. Although I did have a good percentage of our trip all mapped out, I did allow for some time to have fun at the resort.

Near the resort, we spent a little time in Lahaina, going to a luau and checking out a really cool banyan tree.

A nice greeting at the Westin Maui

An interesting sunrise from our balcony on our second morning. The sun was actually behind us, but reflecting off the clouds and into the channel. Molakai is seen in the background.

Not too far from the hotel, we went to the Royal Lahaina Luau on Sunday night.

On our last full day in Maui, we allowed the girls to chill out on a banyan tree in Lahaina. The tree was 128 years old, 50’ tall, and shaded 2/3 of an acre. Later, we went back to the resort and relaxed on the beach, then got ready for dinner and took some photos on property.
