We left O’Hare late on a Friday morning, connecting in LAX and eventually landing in Kahului, Maui late at night. We had about 10 hours of flying, 2 hours of waiting in airports, and basically were exhausted. We checked into the Westin Maui at Kā’anapali Beach, a beautiful resort right on the beach. Although I did have a good percentage of our trip all mapped out, I did allow for some time to have fun at the resort.
Near the resort, we spent a little time in Lahaina, going to a luau and checking out a really cool banyan tree. |

A nice greeting at the Westin Maui |
An interesting sunrise from our balcony on our second morning. The sun was actually behind us, but reflecting off the clouds and into the channel. Molakai is seen in the background. |
Not too far from the hotel, we went to the Royal Lahaina Luau on Sunday night. |
On our last full day in Maui, we allowed the girls to chill out on a banyan tree in Lahaina. The tree was 128 years old, 50’ tall, and shaded 2/3 of an acre. Later, we went back to the resort and relaxed on the beach, then got ready for dinner and took some photos on property. |
