We did a number of things in Chicago when we lived there, but this was the first time we went back to Chicago to specifically enjoy what the city has to offer. It turns out I had to work quite a bit, but that’s okay. The funny thing is that Madeline returned to the city the following week to be part of our old church’s Family Fest. |
Chicago—2017 |
6/13/17—6/18/17 |
Arriving at O’Hare |
Madeline and Dana go down and see the Crown Fountain |
Special art going on at Millennium Park |
Of course, it’s pretty tough to go into Chicago and not take a photo in front of Cloud Gate, or better known as the Bean |
The skies grew dark over the city while they strolled through Maggie Daley Park |
Naturally you have to see Buckingham Fountain |
It’s more fun, though when a cop photo bombs you and then takes your photo |
The Chicago Riverwalk in its present form had only been open for about a year, so Madeline and I walked along the south bank of the Chicago River, checking out the famous buildings and bridges |
While we were walking the Riverwalk, Dana was camped out in front of the PrivateBank Theatre, trying to score Hamilton tickets; she succeeded, so we spent some time waiting for the matinee to start |
After the show, we walked to Eataly and had dinner, checking out the assortment of cheeses and other items while there |
Madeline and Dana went to Navy Pier and saw that they also had some special art going on around |
Wait, why does this look different? |
They rode the Ferris wheel, getting beautiful shots of the city from so high up. They also had lunch at Bubba Gump at the pier. |
That night we went to see another Broadway Show, Aladdin |
We brought the gifts up at CHS and then enjoyed a final meal |
Selfie time with Amanda, Cindy, Tony, Pam, and Susie |
