Disneyland in 2016

10/24/16—10/27/16

Our fourth home for the Hawaii trip was the Grand Californian Hotel, where we stayed for three nights. After flying early out of Honolulu, we got to the resort around dinner time. We immediately went into California Adventure and rode one ride: Radiator Springs Racers. Cars Land was only a few weeks away from opening the last time we were here, so we were anxious to try it out. We were not disappointed. The next day we spent at Disneyland. The following we opened up California Adventure, then went on a Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps tour back in Disneyland, returning to California Adventure to see Frozen-Live and World of Color.

Disneyland was decorated for Halloween, with a special Mickey Pumpkin above the entrance gates. We opened the park and saw an empty path to the castle.

Dana was excited to see Haunted Mansion Holiday, which featured Jack Skellington and other Nightmare Before Christmas decorations. I was anticipating a few changes, but the mansion was changed dramatically.

Since we go to Disney World all the time, our focus here was to see attractions that were from the Walt years, ones that were not located in Disney World, or ones that were different for the holidays or elsewise.

We of course also had to ride some more trains, knock on a few new doors, meet some crazy characters, and watch a new parade. We also rode the trolley, which I believe might have been a first for us in any park.

The highlight of the park was the Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps tour, where we visited the Dream Suite.

Cars Land was very fun at night, with all of the neon. Radiator Springs Racers was probably the best ride I have ever been on in any Disney park.

If the Frozen-Live show was any indication of what the Broadway show will be like, then they will have a huge hit. The story, songs, and special effects were all fabulous.
