For our honeymoon, Madeline just wanted to spend a few days up in the Georgia mountains, because she was ready to move into the house that we bought several months earlier. So we consider our first cruise to be our real honeymoon. It was scheduled by the time we got married and we acted like honeymooners. At one of the formal nights in the restaurant, we celebrated our honeymoon and my 25th birthday. Although it took us a while to go on a cruise again, this trip got us on the cruising kick.

We sailed on the Carnival Festivale, a 38,175 gross ton, 760’ long vessel leaving out of San Juan, Puerto Rico. We went with my sister, Micki, her husband Phil, and a group of farmers from Indiana. In addition to it being our first cruise and honeymoon, it was the first time that we technically were in France, the Netherlands, and Barbados.

Friday night after Martinique was the farewell formal dinner, where we celebrated our anniversary with Micki, Regina, Tom, (us), Dave, Leanna, and Phil

Saturday at sea had some fun events, like a pillow fight contest and an ice carving display. Madeline and I also tried out the pillow fighting, where she whacked me pretty good.

We said goodbye to the Golden Harvest gang (above) as well as all of the Festivale honeymooners (below)

Goodnight!

We flew into San Juan on my birthday, got on the ship and waved goodbye to folks. We had twin beds, which was fun for honeymooners!

We enjoyed our wait staff, celebrated my birthday on the first formal night, and watched and even participated with the entertainers.

During our two days at sea, we had fun at the pool. Of course, dinner was always nice with my sister and our new friends.
