Disney’s private island had to be revamped to accommodate the size of the Dream. It was our first time on the island since the changes, and although the changes weren’t tremendously apparent, the place was still very nice. We docked there two different days, and so on the first day we did a nature hike/kayak tour; on the second day we did an all-day affair of biking, snorkeling, swimming with the stingrays, and just having fun. We were lucky to choose the days that we did each, because it rained on the afternoon of the first day, but we were done with the tour so it didn’t matter.

As we came into port, we saw that the sky was threatening. Off the ship, I stopped and talked to DVC’s SVP, Claire Bilby. We then went to our meeting place and saw the beauty of the island, both natural and manmade.

Our tour did start with a nature walk to the far side of the island. We saw a couple of beautiful beaches before we got in our kayaks and paddled off through mangroves to a secluded beach.

The day began better the second time we hit the island. We were, of course, one of the first ones off the ship.

We’ve done it before, but it’s always fun to feed and swim with the stingrays.

We spent a lot of time snorkeling, and saw lots of fish, some jellyfish, and a few not so hidden Mickey and Minnies.

Between snorkeling exercises, and it was rather exhausting, we spent time relaxing and enjoying the very empty beaches.

We also had fun doing “kid” stuff, since there weren’t many kids to interfere.

We ended the day with a nice bike ride and a refreshing Conch Cooler!
