I think prior to this trip, I had only seen one manatee in my life, and it was in an aquarium. Seeing them in their natural habitat sounded like fun, so we booked a tour near the Everglades. It was a bit rainy that day, but we saw some of the interesting creatures, along with a bald eagle: always a good thing!

On the lookout for the mammals were Alicia, Mel, and Dana

I decide to get a better vantage point on the little pontoon boat

“Found one!”

After checking out the cow/calf manatees, we moved further away from the dock area. That’s when we saw an eagle fly overhead and land on a roof. Wee later saw a pair of nesting osprey.

We found another group of manatees near some mangroves once we left the homes by the dock. You can see scars on the one above, caused by boat propellers. My photo under the water shows the barnacles that live on this one’s back below.

It was a nice little tour for our clan
