I had been going to Little Rock for more than a year designing and building twin facilities. One was in Conway and the other was in North Little Rock, so I got to know that area of the state fairly well. Madeline had never been to Arkansas, so she joined me in mid-January when I was doing a punch list, and then we spent the extended weekend up in the northwestern part of the state in the Ozarks. We also hopped over to Oklahoma one day, which allowed Madeline to knock off two states on her way to all 50.

2011—Little Rock

The outside of my Conway site (left) and North Little Rock site (below)

Although the outsides look different, the footprints and the insides look nearly identical, each housing a 5,000 square foot data center

We went to Fayetteville, home of the Razorbacks of Arkansas

We also had to go to Bentonville, home of the first Walton 5 and 10 store, and the headquarters of Wal-mart. The original store was actually closed for renovation, so we went into the museum that was temporarily housed around the corner.

We went to an animal rescue place similar to what Madeline does at home, only they rescue big cats instead of horses. They take them in, rehabilitate them, and eventually move them to large areas where they can roam free for the rest of their lives.

We decided to go to Disney. Disney, OK that is. In that area and all around the northeastern part of the state, we saw lots of pretty country, beautiful lakes, and nice lake homes.

To wrap up our trip to the Ozarks, we ducked into Missouri and went to a drive-thru zoo
