With both girls grown and more or less on their own, Madeline and I have decided to take a few more frequent short vacations. We are going to try to hit the 50 states for her, but she also wants to visit some of my project sites. The first one we did here was for CHRISTUS Health in San Antonio in early November, where I conceptualized a 47,000 square foot building with a 15,000 square foot data center inside of it about 2-1/2 years ago. As the Project Architect, I was responsible for designing the building and the interior.

We came in on a Thursday night and basically just went to our hotel. On Friday, we spent time at the CHRISTUS IT Center, the site which I worked on for about two years. I take credit for designing the building here, from a floor plan perspective, but other architects brought some of the areas to life. This is what I do for a living, in case you wondered. After the party, we went down to the famous Riverwalk and took a boat ride, had dinner at a steak house, and then walked it off at the River Center Mall

On Saturday, we drove up to Fredericksburg and the Hill Country of Texas. We did a little bit of shopping there, and ate at Der Lindenbaum, a great German restaurant recommended by someone from CHRISTUS. We then went over to a safari park. We came back and (when in Texas, what else?) had a steak dinner.

On Sunday, we checked out of the hotel and went down to the Alamo, then back on the Riverwalk before we had to head home.
