Mel started working in Scottsdale in January, and so we decided we needed to book something in Phoenix to go see him. We chose to go right after the kids’ anniversary, because then we could celebrate with both of them. We looked at Marriott Vacation Club and found a 2-bedroom villa at Marriott’s Canyon Villas at Desert Ridge. The rooms were nice, the location was very convenient, there were plenty of nearby amenities, and they even had events at the resort that were kind of fun and free. All in all, we enjoyed the place very much.

Marriott Canyon Villas

Canyon Villas was very nice. We had a 2 bedroom villa overlooking the Spa Pool. The grounds were beautiful, and our morning walks presented us with great photo opportunities for the main pool, spa pool, and golf course.

They had a good assortment of activities at the Marriott. Three of us did the Wine and Design night, where we painted a desert scene. Madeline held Gonzo the bearded dragon. The three of us also did Wine Down Wednesday, coloring while drinking wine. We also enjoyed the courtyard and played some bocce.

Madeline saw hot air balloons lifting over the golf course one morning. We also saw quail constantly on the grounds. We spent some time at both the Spa Pool and Main Pool because the weather was perfect.

The resort was near High Street and the Desert Ridge Marketplace. Both provided us with good choices of food and shopping. On the night we painted the desert scene, the sky on High Street was very similar. All in all, we had fun with Mel and Alicia.
