On our second full day, I worked in the morning and then we drove to Edwards to see Finding Dory. We had a little time to spare, so we drove up into the mountains and found this cool fence and view.

We enjoyed walks along the river along a paved path. The moon rose over the nearby mountains every night, and the air got cool once the sun started to set. The top photo is of the Westin as seen from Beaver Creek.

Our drive out of Denver’s airport took us quickly into the beauty of the Rockies. Avon was about 2 hours away. We only had a studio in the Villas, but it had a very nice kitchenette that took care of everything that we needed. Our view was not of the river, but of the village instead. It was very peaceful, though.

We had some fun in 2013 on a small trip to Colorado and also back in 1997, so we decided to trade in our Arizona vacation club resort with Starwood and go to the mountains instead. We ended up at the beautiful Westin Riverfront Mountain Villas in Avon, about 10 miles west of Vail. As the name states, the resort was right on the river. We were within walking distance of the little village, where we ate a number of dinners and made trips to the post office and other fine establishments. We arrived in Avon on Wednesday afternoon and left the following Wednesday.
