This was a new port for us, and there’s not a whole lot there, so it certainly won’t be on our list of hotspots. Still, the area was very nice and we did a helmet dive excursion, so we had fun. Unfortunately, my nice camera died during the tour, so we were without it the rest of the trip. Thankfully that’s why we always pack a second camera, so we used the underwater camera from that point on. Of course, the underwater camera provided these shots.

From the pier in Costa Maya, we spot Steve above

Above and below, this is about the extent of the entire port

Our ride to the adventure was on an open air truck, which was fun. I’m not exactly sure what the road sign to the right is referring to, but for some reason I’m oddly attracted to it.

The beach was our destination, which was beautiful from a distance, but kind of dirty up close.

After sunning ourselves for a while, we man a raft to get out to a platform off shore. That’s where we don our 80 pound helmets and ascend into the water

“Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me”

Aside from the coral, we found some interesting creatures, like a cushion starfish, conch, sea urchin, and a brittle starfish
