Emma and Jake got married in Columbus at the end of April. It was nice to get back to Indiana, especially since we weren’t so sure my dad would make it to the wedding. He had been in the hospital the weekend before and had lots of issues. He was determined, though, to dance with Emma… and dance he did. Emma spun him around in his wheelchair and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Text Box: Return to the Midwest

We arrived in Indy mid-morning and went directly to Greensburg. We bought Mom and Dad some lunch and visited at their house for a while. We then drove over to Columbus and was greeted by Tripp, the hotel ambassador. We cleaned up and went to Henry Social Club to have a nice meal with Scott & Angie. Tony and Katherine arrived a little later and also met Tripp.

On Saturday morning, we walked around Columbus with Tony, Angie, and Scott. It was then time to clean up and go to the ceremony. After the wedding was official, they converted the space from theater style chairs to tables for the reception. We hung out a little with my folks and took a few pictures of the bride and her parents, the dessert table (with Grandma’s cookies), and of the Eder-Gordon families.

Our reception table was great. We had a wonderful view of Mark’s speech and then the dancing began. The best dance of the night was the bride-grandfather dance. Emma pushed dad around in his chair and the smile on his face when she twirled him around was priceless.

We took family photos, which can always be a challenge with a few people who don’t like to smile for cameras.

Some of the candid photos with folks we hadn’t seen in a while, like Noelle and Susan & Sheila were also nice. When the music got too loud, though, it was time to say goodbye to the wedding family and go back to the hotel… where we continued the party with the ones staying there for the night. It was a fun weekend with family.
