Genesis announced they were going to tour, starting in Europe. I had every intention of flying to London to see them in concert. But then COVID hit, so the tour got delayed. They then announced that they were going to start in the U.S., since we loosened restrictions. They started just around Halloween, and one of the cities was Charlotte. It was perfect, because it was an easy American flight to CLT and the concert was right next to the Marriott AC Hotel. We flew out on late Friday morning, toured the city and watched the concert on Saturday, then flew back home on Sunday. It was a great weekend, though a somewhat painful one for Madeline, because she was getting her knee replaced the very next day.

We landed in CLT and ate lunch there. We then hopped in an Uber and got to our hotel, the AC downtown. Our balcony looked right out over Spectrum Center. We found a fun place to eat that had great drinks and burgers.

We wanted to make sure that we made it home in time to get a knee replacement, so we had an early afternoon flight out of CLT. We didn’t even care that we were in middle seats apart from each other.

We slept in and checked out our hotel a little before venturing out on a walk of the city. Charlotte is a beautiful city, with great sports, culture, and recreation. We found the baseball and football stadiums and then went to Charlotte Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. There wasn’t a whole lot there, but The Green was pretty cool, and we even got a little taste of Chicago there. At Independence Square, there were statues on all four corners, representing Future, Commerce, Industry, and Transportation.

Madeline’s knee situation and painkillers made her tired, so we took a little nap before eating dinner and then returning to our room to get ready for the concert. It was a beautiful evening, and the city was gorgeous at night.

It was time for the show,

and we had great seats!

The band gets on stage and performs “Behind the Lines/Duke’s End”. The audience was ecstatic.

It was fun watching Nick on the drums, as he was an extremely talented 20 year old

Music from so many different albums

Madeline was in pain sitting, so she got up and moved to the top of the section, watching “I Can’t Dance” and so much more

Take a bow! You earned it, for so many years of great music!
