We took a long walking tour of Florence, which is like an entire outdoor museum. We visited Michelangelo's David, the Ponte Vecchio, and the Duomo. We then went up into the Chianti hills and had a lunch in a villa.

The Rape of the Sabine Women by Giambologna (far left) sits outside the Loggia dei Lanzi. Carved out of a single slab of marble, a replica of it now resides in our house since it is one of my favorite statues.

A replica of Michelangelo's David is also in the vicinity.

Statues of famous Italians, like Dante, Galileo, Pietro Antonio Micheli, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci located outside the Uffizi Gallery.

Our new friends from Purdue, including Mary, pose at the villa

The rules in Italy are different, of course, so Mary (18), Dana (17), and Jay (15) are able to enjoy a night at the disco. Dana and Mary also enjoyed wine and limoncello from time to time during the week.
